Tottenham and Manchester United square off in Spain on Wednesday with Europa League glory on the line in what promises to be a fascinating encounter. 

Both sides have endured their worst-ever Premier League campaigns, yet now find themselves one win away from claiming silverware, and a place next season's Champions League. 

With their focus firmly set on European business, both sides have endured miserable domestic campaigns. Tottenham come into Wednesday's final having won just one of 11 previous PL games, while United have failed to win any of their last eight matches. Placed, 17th and 16h respectively in the PL, Wednesday´s final represents a chance of salvation for two sleeping giants of the English game.

Clean sheets have been rare for these sides in 2025. Tottenham conceded at least one goal in all but two of their last 18 matches across all competitions. United, for their part, failed to keep a clean sheet in 12 of their last 14 matches. 

Spurs have enjoyed the better of recent encounters between these sides, winning four while remaining unbeaten in their last six meetings, including a thrilling 4:3 League Cup victory earlier this season. While it might be optimistic to expect a repeat of that dramatic contest, I do anticipate both sides scoring in a likely see-saw encounter in Spain.
