Riga will be looking to keep alive their hopes of winning the Latvian top flight for the first time since 2020 when they play host to Jelgava on Tuesday.

The hosts struggled at the beginning of the campaign, winning only two of their opening six matches, but that seems a very long time ago now. Since then, Adrián Guľa’s team have won 14 consecutive games and kept 10 clean sheets. This impressive run has seen Riga climb to the top of the standings, five points ahead of their nearest rivals RFS.

Meanwhile, Jelgava sit in the bottom half of the standings, only nine points clear of the bottom two. Jelgava fans will be hoping that the damage on Tuesday won't be too severe, even if their side loses. However, I expect the visitors to concede at least three goals. During their last four visits to Skonto Stadium, Basovs’s side conceded an average of three goals per game, and half of those matches saw seven or more goals scored.
