An intriguing UEFA European Championship contest takes place at BVB Stadion Dortmund on Saturday evening as hosts Germany take on Denmark.
Germany vs Denmark Betting Tips - BTTS/Germany to Win
In a repeat of the 1992 European Championship final, an intriguing contest is expected at the famous BVB Stadion.
After impressive performances to see-off Scotland (5:1) and Hungary (2:0), the home nation were surprisingly held to a 1:1 draw in their final match against Switzerland. Indeed, were it not for a late equaliser from Dortmund striker Niklas Fullkrug, the Germans would have finished runners-up in Group A.
Instead, having topped the section, Julian Nagelsmann´s side now face Denmark in Dortmund with a place in the quarter-finals up for grabs. While a little underwhelming in Sunday´s draw against the Swiss, a performance more closely matching those of their first two victories against the Scots and Hungarians seems likely this weekend.
Despite a poor run of form over the past 12 months, the Germans have raised their game at this competition, and with home advantage, will be confident of seeing-off the Danes. Germany have won five of their last seven games after previously winning only two of the last ten.
Clean sheets have proved few and far between for Germany in recent matches, and in previous meetings against Denmark. Nagelsmann´s side conceded at least one goal in 14 of their last 17 internationals and in eight of nine previous matches against the Danes.
While Denmark can never be under-estimated in major tournaments, Kasper Hjulmand´s side were not especially impressive in securing qualification from Group C. Three successive draws against Slovenia, England and Serbia proved enough for the Danes to reach the round of sixteen.
Ultimately, with the Germans a little unconvincing at the back, a bet on BTTS offers more value than the short odds available on a home win. While I do expect Germany to progress, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the hosts require extra-time to secure their place in the quarter-finals.
