Dallas Mavericks vs Minnesota Timberwolves Prediction
After contrastingly narrow scorelines in their recent nights, the Dallas Mavericks (10-14) entertain a dwindling Minnesota Timberwolves side (6-17) hoping for more comfortable viewing than their thriller against Golden State on Saturday night. Will they string together successive wins? Read my basketball preview, for the best betting odds ahead of this compelling H2H matchup.
Dallas Mavericks vs Minnesota Timberwolves Preview
Dallas' franchise star Luka Doncic had 42 points (12-of-23 shooting, seven threes), 11 assists and seven rebounds. The Mavericks overcame another special Stephen Curry display - 57 points, five ast - to win 134-132 against Steve Kerr's men after plenty of back-and-forth throughout.
Kristaps Porzingis added a double-double (18 pts, 10 rebs) despite going scoreless from deep. Six Mavs players were in double-digit scoring, including small forward Tim Hardaway Jr 27 minutes from the bench, even if he could only record 3-of-15 shooting from the field.
It'll be interesting to see what sort of lineup Ryan Saunders has in store for Doncic and co, such is their understaffed side right now. Naz Reid had a season-high 29 points in 27 minutes. The 21-year-old continues to benefit from additional responsibility at the centre, while top draft pick Anthony Edwards had 20/8/4 and Malik Beasley wasn't far behind (17 pts, six rebs, five ast).
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander excelled with 31 points, nine rebounds and seven assists as the Oklahoma City Thunder weathered a third-quarter storm to outlast the Timberwolves 120-118 but how will they respond against more stern Western Conference opposition here?
Dallas Mavericks vs Minnesota Timberwolves Betting Tips
Although they're also under.500, Dallas are overwhelming favourites (76.7%) to prevail here and improve their poor 3-7 home record - for a good reason. Karl-Anthony Towns (COVID-19 protocols) and D'Angelo Russell (quad soreness) are both listed as out, the Timberwolves' two-star players. Without them, this could be another rough learning experience for Rick Carlisle's men, and I’m expecting a Mavericks win.
