Last year, St. Patrick's had a magnificent end of the season. They had a nine-game winning streak and almost won the title, finishing third, four points behind Shelbourne. The popular Saints continued with good performances in the first part of the season, holding the top spot after 13 rounds. However, after that, they went on a pretty poor streak and dropped to 5th place. Yet, they are still just for points away from European spots but will have to turn things around and start winning points.
Derry City have been among the best teams in Ireland, finishing in the top four over the previous four seasons and in five of the last six. This season, they have been inconsistent but are once again around their usual place and a point-per-game average. Now, they sit in 4th place, one point above their next opponent, but with two games played. Their goal is to reach Europe (top three spots), which looks pretty achievable.
St. Patrick's vs Derry City pick: Under 2.5 goals
St. Patrick's are in bad form, having won just once in the last six games. During that time, they scored only four goals - 0.67 per game, which is well below their season's average of 1.23. Mostly due to a poor offense, they went under 2.5 goals in three of the last four matches.
Derry City stopped their four-game winless streak with a 1:0 win over Shelbourne. Still, we can safely say they were lucky to score there, considering they struggled to create chances and had only 0.27 xG. Additionally, in the previous five games, they scored one or zero goals every time.
In the last five h2h games, we saw fewer than three goals on four occasions. Considering the previous h2h games and all the above, we firmly believe that an under 2.5 goals bet is the safest bet for this Premier Division tie.

St. Patrick`s team news
After a 3:1 loss to Galway, coach Stephen Kenny spoke to the media. He was extremely unhappy with the team's performance, especially in the opening minutes of the match. The coach also said that they allowed two goals after mistakes and had to work really hard on the other side to create chances for themselves. He noted they had a bit better in the second half, but the opposing goalkeeper, Evan Watts, was incredible.
The team should have no new injuries, but Romal Palmer should remain sidelined with his long-term injury.

Derry City team news
Midfielder Sadou Diallo suffered an injury in the previous game against Shelbourne and had to leave the field after 62 minutes. He will most likely miss the upcoming game, but luckily, another midfielder, Adam O'Reilly, served his one-game suspension in the previous game and will be available. He is one of the team's key players, who started in 80% of their league games.
Cameron Dummigan and Ben Doherty, who missed the previous games with injuries, should remain sidelined.
