After a stunning 5:0 win in the Champions League final, PSG opened their Club World Cup campaign with a convincing 4:0 success against Atletico Madrid. However, a shock 1:0 reversal against Botafogo on Thursday leaves the Parisiens with work to do if they are to secure a place in the knockout phase. 

Luis Enrique’s men now face a Seattle Sounders side no longer able to qualify after the MLS side suffered back-to-back defeats against Botafogo (2:1) and Atletico Madrid (3:1).

The MLS side struggled to contain the Spanish giants and have now lost four in a row, conceding three or more goals in three of those defeats. While showing plenty of courage and attacking intent in their two Group B losses, Seattle have been unable to bridge the gap in quality, despite boasting home advantage throughout the competition. 

With PSG needing a win to stay alive in the tournament a strong response from the Parisiens is expected. Backed by a wealth of attacking talent, including an exceptional Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and the returning Ousmane Dembele, the Parisians should bounce back in emphatic fashion on Monday. 

Given Seattle’s leaky backline and PSG’s explosive firepower, a high-scoring win for the French champions looks likely at Lumen Field.
