Peterborough were relegated from the Championship in the 2021/22 season and reached the playoffs in the following two seasons. Unfortunately, "The Posh" failed to come out of the playoffs and return to the Championship. This season has been poor as Peterborough are 14th with 14 points in ten rounds, but still just two points away from the playoffs, although with a game played more. With a potential win over Rotherham, they would take a big step in moving closer to the playoff spots.
Rotherham are one of the teams that constantly moved between Championship and League One in the previous decade.
