Mali and Ghana meet in the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, with both nations looking to secure their second win in the competition.
The hosts once again came up short for the African Cup of Nations trophy. Éric Chelle’s side were knocked out by hosts Côte d'Ivoire in the quarter-finals, but until then they had not suffered a single defeat – winning two and drawing two. The Eagles kept two clean sheets at the tournament and have also shown their defensive solidity of late, winning their two friendlies in March against Nigeria and Mauritania without conceding a goal.
Ghana had a more disastrous AFCON tournament. The Black Stars got knocked out in the Group Stage for the second time in a row in the competition after picking up just two points from three games. Otto Addo’s side were expected to make amends during the friendlies in March, but they weren’t at it again as they failed to win both games and conceded a total of four goals.
Betting Tips Mali vs Ghana: Under 2.5 goals
One of Mali’s major strengths in recent months has been their defence. They finished four of their last seven encounters across all competitions without conceding, and just two of those matches ended with under two goals.
The recent games of Ghana were very entertaining, with each of the last five producing at least three goals, but the Black Stars’ recent meetings with Mali with very close. Each of the last three encounters between the two nations ended with under two goals, and I don’t think Thursday’s game will be different.
- Best Tip: Under 2.5 goals
- Mali vs Ghana prediction: 1-1

Mali team news
Head coach Éric Chelle is not expected to make wholesale changes to the side that secured the 2-0 victory over Nigeria in March.
El Bilal Touré and Kamory Doumbia who scored the two goals in that encounter have been included in the Malian squad for the June fixtures against Ghana and Central African Republic.

Ghana team news
Mohammed Kudus missed Ghana’s last three games due to injury, but the West Ham United forward has recovered and is ready for action.
Kudus enjoyed a great campaign with the Hammers in the Premier League, registering eight goals and six assists in 33 league appearances and also struck five times in the Europa League.
Other big names in head coach Chris Hughton’s squad are the likes of Mohammed Kudus, Antoine Semenyo and Jordan Ayew.
