Turkish Super Lig began last weekend, and two teams that secured victories in the first round, Konyaspor and Galatasaray, will face off against each other at Konya Buyuksehir Belediye Stadium in Konya.

Konyaspor came to this season after the worst one since their arrival in 2014 at Super Lig. They were mostly a mid-table team before the last year when they finished 16th, just one point above the danger zone. This year started pretty well for the "Anatolian Eagle" as they won 3:2 against Kasimpasa, a team that finished 5th last season, pretty close to the European spots. Now, they will have a really challenging task against Galatasaray, a team that won them both times last year.

Galatasaray are one of the biggest clubs in Turkey. In recent years (along with Fenerbahce), they invested a lot of money and brought in some high-profile players, and their goal is not only to win the title but also to do well in Europe. Last year, they won the league title, finishing three points above the 2nd-placed Fenerbahce. This year, we expect again a two-team race between them and their arch-rivals, Fenerbahce. Although they won the first league game of the season against Hatayaspor, they were humiliated in the Super Cup against Besiktas, losing 5:0, and that is surely a reason for concern.

Konyaspor vs Galatasaray pick: Both teams to score

Konyaspor started the season with a 3:2 win against Kasimpasa on the road. Considering Kasimpasa was one of the better teams last season, scoring three goals is a significant achievement. Konyaspor did struggle to keep possession and will surely struggle against Galatasaray. However, they proved they are clinical from the set pieces and counters, and we believe they can score against anyone, especially on their own turf.

Last year, Galatasaray were amazing, winning 33 of 38 matches (87% win rate) and scoring 92 goals - 2.4 per game. But looking at their squad, especially their offense, we are not surprised at all. So, a goal or two against anyone in the league is a must.

On the other hand, they showed big flaws on the defensive end this season, allowing six goals in two games. So, we do not trust them to keep a clean sheet against Konyaspor on the road.
