The host nation secured their place in the Women's quarter-finals in Paris with a hard-fought 2:1 win against New Zealand earlier this week. A double strike from the in-form Marie-Antoinette Katoto was enough to seal a massive win for Hervé Renard´s side. 

After claiming 3:2 win against Colombia in their Group A opener, a 2:1 defeat to Canada left French hopes in the balance, but Wednesday´s victory now gives the host nation every chance of claiming a medal in the coming week.

An entertaining team to watch, each of the French´s last seven games saw BTTS and over 2.5 goals scored. While strong in attack, Renard´s side have kept just two clean sheets in their last 11 games.

Brazil come into this contest having made difficult work of their progression to the quarter-finals. After a narrow 1:0 win against Nigeria, back-to-back defeats against Japan and Spain left the Brazilians needing favours elsewhere before they could secure their spot as one of the best third-placed teams. 

Recent meetings between these nations have proven entertaining, with goals usually to be expected. France have had the better of their most recent encounters, scoring six wins and one draw from their last seven encounters. Six of those seven matches also saw BTTS and I like the chances of both outcomes this weekend. 

With home advantage, I expect the French to emerge victorious against their South American counterparts. Les Bleues should be able to score twice, but don´t be surprised to see Brazil get on the scoresheet.
