- Competition: FIFA Club World Cup
- Date: Wednesday, 25th June, 2025
- Kickoff: 02:00 UK / 03:00 CEST
- Venue: Lincoln Financial Field (Philadelphia)
On the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, Esperance Tunis and Chelsea will face off in the last game of the group phase of the FIFA Club World Cup at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
Esperance Tunis have been a dominant force in Tunis, winning eight titles in the last nine years. In 2025, besides winning the title, they also won the Cup. While they haven't won the title in the CAF Champions League in recent years, the accumulation of points over four years has secured them an appearance in the FIFA Club World Cup. They opened the tournament with a loss to Flamengo but bounced back with a win over Los Angeles. While they are level with 2nd-placed Chelsea in points, they have a worse goal difference and will need to win this match to secure a place in the next stage of the competition.
Chelsea had a disastrous 2022/23 season when they finished 12th. However, they are slowly recovering, and the last season might even be considered a success. Besides securing fourth place in the Premier League and returning to the Champions League, the Blues managed to win the Conference League as well. The title in that competition secured them the FIFA Club World Cup appearance. There, they opened with a 2:0 win against Los Angeles but got humbled by Flamengo 3:1. Now, they only need a draw in the match against Esperance Tunis, where they are a big favorite.
Esperance Tunis vs Chelsea pick: Chelsea to win and cover the -1.5 AH spread
Both teams won three points in the first two matches, but we believe there was a massive difference in their performance. Esperance Tunis were dominated by Flamengo and won against LA FC (1:0). However, they did not deserve that win, as LA FC had a higher xG and even missed a penalty. On the other hand, Chelsea dominated LAFC completely and was equal with Flamengo. Unfortunately for the Blues, that changed when they received a red card.
Before the end of the season, both teams were excellent. Esperance won nine of the last ten games, and Chelsea won eight of the previous nine games in all competitions. However, the difference in their opponents was massive, as the Blues managed to win games against teams like Real Betis, Manchester United, Nottingham Forest, and even the Premier League champions - Liverpool.
Simply, the difference in quality is too great. And considering all the above, we firmly believe the Blues should secure a comfortable win over the Blood and Gold.
Esperance Tunis team news
Before the start of the FIFA Club World Cup, coach Maher Kanzari criticized FIFA for the timing of the competition, saying the players are too tired. Most football pundits expected him to rotate the team more in response to those comments, but he only made two changes for the previous game. The coach decided not to start Yan Sasse, who was their best goalscorer in the domestic league and the second-best overall. We expect him back in the starting lineup.
Regarding injuries, the team should have no new ones. Roger Aholou should be the only player to miss the match due to a long-term injury.

Chelsea team news
In the last game against Flamengo, Nicolas Jackson received a straight red card and will be suspended for the final game of the group stage. The striker apologized for the red card, saying he was so angry with himself. "No excuses. I take full responsibility. Sorry. Sorry, Sorry," the striker added.
Leo Castledine, Wesley Fofana, and Omari Kellyman, who missed the previous games, should remain sidelined with injuries. Meanwhile, Mykhailo Mudryk will remain sidelined due to a doping ban.
