In the last decade, Belgium have been one of the favorites to lift the trophy at every major tournament, but third place in the World Cup in Germany in 2018 remained their biggest success in the 21st century. In the last two EUROs, Belgium reached the quarterfinals, where they lost against Wales and Italy.

Slovakia is also in a good run, having lost only one of the last seven matches in all competitions. In June, they won two times, 4-0 (against San Marino and Wales). Victory against Wales, especially, will give Francesco Calzona's team a lot of confidence ahead of the upcoming tournament.

Defenders Jan Vertonghen and Arthur Theate are injured, and although they increased their workload, it is still hard to know if they will be ready for the game against Slovakia.
