Sao Tome and Principe are one of the weakest teams in the African region, but considering the size of the country, that shouldn't really be a surprise. They haven't appeared in any major competitions in their history, which will hardly change soon. In the last AFCON 2025 Qualifiers, South Sudan eliminated them in the Preliminary phase and in the World Cup Qualifiers, they are the last-placed team with zero points after the first three rounds.
Liberia are also among the worst teams in Africa. They are #152 in the FIFA World Ranking and #46 in the CAF region. Expectedly, they have never appeared in the World Cup but have done so in the AFCON on two occasions, back in 1996 and 2002. In this WC cycle, Liberia are 4th in the Group with four points after three rounds. They are already five points away from first-placed Tunisia and three points away from second-placed Namibia.
Sao Tome and Principe vs Liberia pick: Under 2.5 goals
Sao Tome and Principe have not won in the last 12 games, and they faced some pretty poor teams. In this WC Qualifiers, they have been simply awful offensively, scoring only once in the first three games. That goal was against Malawi in a match where they only had 20% possession and three goal attempts for the entire game. Scoring against Liberia, which allowed one goal in the last four matches (in all competitions), will surely be a challenge.
Liberia have played mostly low-scoring games lately and were under 2.5 goals in four of the last five matches in all competitions. They haven't been great offensively in this WC Qualifiers, scoring four goals in the first three games - 1.3 per game.
Considering all the above, we believe that an under 2.5 goals bet is the safest option for this World Cup Qualifiers game.
São Tomé and Príncipe team news
In the previous game vs Malawi, the starting right-full back, Rogerio Fernandes, suffered an injury and had to leave the field after 65 minutes. He will most likely miss the upcoming game, and we should see Elias Varela in the starting lineup.

Liberia team news
On February 20th, the FA appointed Mario Marinica as the new head coach. However, according to speculations, the coach could leave the team after the Sao Tome and Principe game due to unpaid salaries.
After a 1:1 draw with Namibia, the coach spoke to the media about the match, not mentioning the speculations surrounding his potential departure. The coach was satisfied with a draw, saying it feels like a win because Namibia is a good team. When asked about the possibility of reaching the WC, he said that is not a realistic goal for them at this moment.
