- Competition: EURO U21
- Date: Wednesday, 11th June, 2025
- Kickoff: 20:00 UK / 21:00 CEST
- Venue: Štadión pod Dubňom (Žilina)
On June 11th, the next edition of the UEFA U21 EURO will kick off in Slovakia. One of the most interesting matches on the opening day will be between Poland and Georgia, held at Štadión pod Dubňom in Žilina.
Poland U21 missed the last two U21 EURO tournaments, but they had a strong qualifying campaign this time. They finished second in a group with Germany, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Estonia, and Israel. While Germany were clear favorites, the rest of the group wasn't really strong. Thanks to a good goal difference, Poland qualified as one of the best second-placed teams.
Meanwhile, Georgia U21 are coming to this EURO U21 after a very good one where they qualified as hosts. That was their first appearance in EURO, and they did well, coming out of the group but eventually losing in the Quarter-Finals against Israel after a penalty shootout. In the Qualifiers for this EURO, they did a great job. After finishing second in the group with Netherlands U21, Sweden, North Macedonia, Moldova, and Gibraltar, they had to play in the playoffs to secure EURO. There, they faced Croatia and managed to secure a win after penalties.
Poland U21 vs Georgia U21 pick: Over 2.5 goals
Poland U21 have been fantastic for this bet, both in the EURO Qualifiers and the friendlies as well. They went over this line in the last seven consecutive games with an average of 4.4 goals per game! We also saw both teams scoring in six of those seven matches.
Georgia U21 proved they are a really dangerous team. While they played a pretty defensive style of football at the start of the Qualifiers, that was not the case in recent matches. They went over 2.5 goals in seven of the last nine matches in all competitions - 78%. During that nine-game stretch, they scored 18 goals - 2 per game.
Considering all the above, we expect a high-scoring game, most likely with both teams scoring.

Poland U21 team news
Before the EURO U21, coach Adam Majewski had to give up two players. The first one was a goalkeeper, Jakub Mądrzyk, who was their fourth option in the Qualifiers. The second one was Szymon Włodarczyk, a striker from Salernitana. His absence from the EURO U21 is a big surprise, considering he has been solid in Serie B and also did well for the u21 national team. He was even a part of the starting eleven in their last game against Ukraine U21 and scored a goal.

Georgia U21 team news
After a 1:0 loss in the last game against Romania U21, coach Ramaz Svanadze spoke to the media. He said it was a tough game. He noted they lost and cannot be happy with the match but is content that all the players avoided injuries. He also said they lacked speed, movement, and aggression, and the coach attributed that to the fact that most players finished their seasons 2-3 weeks ago. "We need to make progress, especially in the defensive phase. We also need more concentration," the coach added.
