On Friday evening, the last-placed Dundalk will welcome title-chasing Derry City at Oriel Park in Dundalk. 

Dundalk have been among the best teams in Ireland's Premier Division, even winning five titles in the last decade. However, the current season has been nothing short of a disaster. They are 10th with only 12 points in 17 rounds, already seven points away from the safe zone. Dundalk even changed the coach before the last game, and it remains to see whether that will have a positive impact. 

Derry City finished second in the last two seasons, behind Shamrock Rovers, but not too close to winning the title. This year, they found themselves in a similar position after 19 rounds as they are in second place, six points behind the league's leader, Shelbourne. However, with winning only one point in the last two games, they are in a mini-crisis, and a game against out-of-form Dundalk could help them change the negative momentum.

Dundalk are in terrible form, having won only once in the last five games. They have big problems offensively and have scored only nine goals in 17 rounds - 0.53 per game. Mostly due to a terrible offensive display, they were under 2.5 goals in 12 of 17 matches (71%). At home, that number is even higher, as 87% of their games finished with fewer than three goals. 

Derry City haven't been great offensively in recent games, scoring only five goals in the last six games, which is way below their average of 1.42 goals per game. Additionally, away from home, they only played low-scoring games and were under 2.5 goals in the last four matches.

Considering all the above, we highly believe that an under 2.5 goals bet is the best option for this Premier Division tie.
