The top two teams in the Irish top flight meet on Friday evening, when Derry City play host to Shamrock Rovers.

Rovers had one goal in mind at the start of the season - to regain the title after their four-year winning streak came to an end last year. Things have gone well for Tiernan Lynch and co so far, as they are five points clear at the top of the standings and have lost only three games.

Derry City have also stepped up their game this season, considering they finished fourth last year. The Candystripes had the chance to record four consecutive wins when they visited Drogheda United last week, having beaten Shelbourne, St Patrick's and Cork City in their previous three encounters. Shamrock Rovers meanwhile are unbeaten in six, winning each of the last four, and they scored ten goals in their last three games. However, the visitors struggled to score against Derry City in recent fixtures, managing only two goals in the last three meetings.
