Two sides separated by five places and 23 points in the Spanish top flight meet on Monday night as Barcelona play host to Valencia.
After the defeat to Real Madrid in the El Clásico at the Santiago Bernabéu last weekend, Barcelona’s hopes of winning La Liga in back to back campaigns are over, with eleven points separating the team from the top of the tree. However, the new recent news of head coach Xavi changing his decision about leaving the club at the end of the season will be a huge motivation for the remainder of the season.
Valencia meanwhile only narrowly escaped relegation last season and carried that poor form into the 2023-24 campaign. Los Che spent several weeks this season in the bottom three, but they picked their form when it matters most. Rubén Baraja’s side have moved into the top half of the table after losing just two of their last eight league outings and also won each of their last two games on the road.
Betting Tips Barcelona vs Valencia: Barcelona to win & Under 2.5 goals
Barcelona enter this fixture with back to back defeats, but Blaugrana did well in both games, with only some key decisions going against them. Xavi’s men won three of their last four home La Liga matches and also have a decent record against Valencia at this venue. They won the last two meetings 4-1 on aggregate and I fancy another win on Monday.
However, Valencia have kept their recent matches very close. Only one of the visitors’ last six fixtures produced more than two goals – so I fancy a narrow 2-0 win for Barca.
- Best Tip: Barca to win
- Barcelona vs Valencia prediction: 2-0

Barcelona team news
Gavi will once again be unavailable to Barcelona boss Xavi due to a cruciate ligament injury, and the midfielder is not the hosts’ only injury concern.
Alejandro Balde and Frenkie de Jong are currently nursing tendon and ankle injuries respectively.
Elsewhere, a booking for either İlkay Gündoğan, Oriol Romeu and Andreas Christensen on Monday will result in a one match ban.

Valencia team news
As far as Valencia are concerned, Mouctar Diakhaby and Roman Yaremchuk will be unavailable for Monday’s trip to Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys to knee injuries.
Hugo Duro is the club’s top scorer this season with 12 goals and should lead the line, while Diego López, who leads the assists charts (six) will be the man to watch in the middle of the park.
