Austria vs Romania Betting Tips - Austra to Win
Winless in their last three matches, Austria should be expected to return to winning form when they take on Romania in Vienna this weekend.
Ralph Rangnick's side return to action after failing to secure promotion to UEFA Nations League A, as they stumbled to a 2:0 defeat in Belgrade after a 1:1 draw in Vienna.
Now looking to kick-off their World Cup qualification campaign in winning form, the Austrians can rely on a strong recent record in Vienna. Rangnick's men picked up victories in six of their last nine home international qualifiers over the past four years.
Unbeaten in their last seven home fixtures, Austria usually do their best work in front of their own support. The Burschen scored impressive wins against Norway (5:1) and Germany (2:0) during their recent unvanquished run on home soil.
Romania make the trip to Vienna in excellent form, with victories picked up in seven of their last eight matches, albeit against lower-tier nations including Kosovo, Cyprus and Lithuania. However, a 1:0 home reversal against Bosnia and Herzegovina has already left the Romanians with plenty of work to do in their bid to qualify for the World Cup for the first time since 1998.
Now facing a significant step-up in class, Romania will take confidence from some impressive performances at last summer's European championship. Yet, against an Austrian side that usually turns it on in Vienna, Mircea Lucescu's men could struggle to replicate their impressive recent performances in the Nations League.
While sure to be a competitive contest, I'm backing Austria to claim a vital victory in Vienna.
