Arsenal will be looking to keep their hopes of a first EFL Cup title since the 1990s alive when they take on West Ham in the last 16 at the London Stadium on Wednesday. The hosts beat Lincoln City in the third round, while Mikel Arteta's side eliminated Brentford to get this far.

West Ham United fans will no doubt think this is the wrong time to take on London rivals Arsenal. The Hammers had a good spell between late September and early November, going unbeaten in four games (three wins) but the October international break changed everything.

West Ham United have lost all three games since the break. This spell has seen their 17-games unbeaten streak in Europe come to an end, meaning the team's confidence is very low at the moment.

Arsenal were subjected to all sorts of insults last season after missing out on the Premier League title but that hasn't slowed the team down. The Gunners currently occupy second place in the league standings - just two points behind leaders Tottenham Hotspur. Arsenal also sit at the top of Group B in UEFA Champions League.

West Ham United have hit rock bottom in recent weeks but they usually show their best side when it matters. David Moyes' side will also be playing at home where they have lost only one of their last three meetings with the Gunners. 

Arsenal are capable of scoring goals in large numbers. Even with their captain Martin Ødegaard and Gabriel Jesus – who have a combined ten goals and assists this season – not in the XI last time out against Sheffield United, they scored five times. Arteta’s men kept a clean sheet in that game but the last time they went without conceding at the London Stadium was in 2017.
