Valerenga will be looking to keep alive their hopes of an immediate return to Eliteserien when they play host to Moss on Sunday evening.

The hosts were expected to respond this season after suffering their first ever relegation last year and it’s fair to say there have been signs of that. Jan Frode Nornes’ sit just four points off the top of the tree in the first Division after picking up 20 points from their first eleven games and have also gone beyond the fourth round in the Norwegian cup.

Moss meanwhile got promoted to the first division in 2022. The Lads finished last season in tenth place, but they have been massive improvements this season with the team sitting in the top three after eleven games. The visitors are levelled on points with their hosts for this weekend’s game, meaning they could go just within a point of league leaders Kongsvinger with a win on Sunday.

Betting Tips Valerenga vs Moss: Home team to win

Valerenga have been firing on all cylinders in recent fixtures. The hosts are on a run of three consecutive games in the first division, having beaten the likes of Asane, Levanger and Ranheim 13-3 on aggregate. Jan Frode Nornes’ side also enter this fixture on the back of two consecutive home victories, beating Byne and Levanger, 1-0 and 3-1 respectively.

Moss have also been in fine form of late, winning each of their last four encounters, but they have struggled away from home at times this season. The Lads boast only three wins from their seven away games in all competitions this season and having also lost each of their previous two meetings with Valerenga, anything other than a home win will be a surprise.

Valerenga team news

Head coach Jan Frode Nornes will be under pressure to use Ola Kamara from the start this weekend after the forward came off the bench last weekend to score a match-winning brace.

Christian Borchgrevink and Fidel Brice Ambina missed that game due to injuries, respectively and Sunday’s game will come too soon for the pair.

Moss team news

Moss didn’t suffer any injuries in the win over Aalesund last weekend, so it won’t be a surprise if head coach Thomas Myhre maintains the side that was on the pitch from kickoff in that game.

Sebastian Pedersen is expected to lead the line after scoring his sixth goal of the campaign in that encounter and will be handed with the responsibilities of leading the line, while Henrik Gjesdal is pushing for a start in defence.
