On the night between Sunday and Monday, one of the title candidates, Uruguay, will start the Copa America against probably the worst team in the competition, Panama, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.

Uruguay are the #14 national team on the FIFA World Ranking List and one of the best teams in the South American region. They have participated in 45 of 47 Copa America tournaments, only missing two because they withdrew. They won the competition on 15 occasions and are tied with Argentina for most Copa America titles. Before Copa America, Uruguay had a very good World Cup Qualifiers as they currently hold the 2nd place with 13 points after six rounds. Before their first game at Copa America, the bookies see Uruguay as the third favorite for the title, with the odds around 6.0. Only Argentina and Brazil are bigger favorites than Uruguay.

Panama appeared just twice in major competitions - once at the World Cup in 2018 and once at the Copa America in 2016. Before Copa America, Panama had a decent run in the CONCACAF Nations League, where they won their Group A and eventually finished fourth in the playoffs behind the USA, Mexico, and Jamaica. However, in Copa America, the bookies see them as the worst team in the competition, offering odds on them to win the title around 300.

Uruguay vs Panama pick: Uruguay to win and cover the -1.5 AH spread

Uruguay really impressed so far in the World Cup Qualifiers. They won four of six matches, while beating teams like Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Bolivia, which are much better than Panama. Interestingly, Uruguay also covered the -1.5 AH spread in all four wins in the WC Qualifiers. Additionally, before the start of the Copa America, Uruguay had a massive 4:0 win against a really good Mexico squad.

On the other hand, Panama won two of the last five matches. Their only wins were against poor teams like Guyana and Monserrat. In the last preparation game before Copa America, Panama lost 1:0 against Paraguay while failing to shoot at the goal for 90 minutes.
