Tromso vs Rosenborg prediction 20.05.2024

On Monday evening, two out-of-form teams, Tromso and Rosenborg, will face off in the 9th round of Eliteserien at Romssa Arena in Tromsø.

Tromso had an absolutely great last season, finishing 3rd, on a level with points with 2nd-placed Brann. That is by far their best performance in the previous decade when they were mostly in the lower part of the league's table. That could easily be one of the best seasons in the club's history. However, the popular Boys had a terrible start this season, winning only three points in the first seven rounds. 

Rosenborg, Norway's all-time title holder, are coming to this season after a terrible one, at least by their standards. They finished 9th, not even remotely close to securing Europe. That was only the second time they failed to secure Europe in the last 18th seasons. This year, after a good start where they won five of six games in all competitions, Rosenborg won only one point in the following five. Now, they will have the opportunity to change the bad momentum with a win over the last-placed team, Tromso. 

Tromso vs Rosenborg pick: Both teams to score

Tromso have shown very little this season, losing seven of ten games in all competitions. Still, in the last three games, they scored five goals, only failing to score against the best team in Norway, Bodo/Glimt. We believe they are not as bad as the current results suggest and should score at home against another out-of-form team. On the other hand, we do not think they will keep a clean sheet, considering they only had one in seven Eliteserien rounds (14%). 

Rosenborg are in poor form, with only one point in the last five matches. However, they are scoring pretty regularly despite of the results and have scored at least one goal in eight of 11 games in all competitions. Like Tromso, we do not believe in their defense to keep their net intact after allowing 12 goals in the last five matches. 

Both teams scored in the last three (official) h2h games. Additionally, six of the last seven h2h games ended with both teams scoring. Considering the previous h2h games and terrible defensive displays from both teams, we expect both teams to score in this Eliteserine match.
