In a repeat of last year's final, reigning Austrian Cup holders Sturm Graz come into Wednesday's final with plenty of reasons to be confident about their chances of retaining their title. 

Currently unbeaten in their last six matches, the Bundesliga leaders have picked up four wins in their five most recent outings including a thrilling 4:3 semi-final win against Red Bull Salzburg. 

In what could be one of their best seasons in years, Sturm remains on-course for an unlikely league and cup double. The Graz-based side boast a three-point advantage ahead of RB Salzburg in the race for the Bundesliga title after an entertaining 2:2 draw against their title rivals this past weekend. 

Having won this competition last season, Die Schwoazn boast a superb recent record in the Austrian Cup with 11 successive wins over the past two years. 

While Sturm are in superb winning form, Rapid Wien enter Wednesday's final now winless in their last five matches. Robert Klauß´s side suffered the worst possible preparation with three successive defeats including a 5:0 thumping at LASK over the weekend and a 3:1 league loss against Sturm last week. 

Placed fifth in the Bundesliga, Klauß´s men have failed to win eight of their last ten matches played since the start of March. 

A quick check of the H2H record also reveals that Rapid have beaten Sturm just once in their last 15 meetings since January 2021. 

Considering recent form, Sturm´s superb cup record and their historical dominance of this fixture, I'm backing Die Schwoazn to claim back-to-back Austrian Cup titles on Wednesday.
