Even though many football experts say that Spain’s football golden era has finished, we still consider them to be one of the best national teams in the world. In the previous WC, they were not on an expected level, as Morocco eliminated them in the 1/8 Finals. However, after the WC, they won the UEFA Nations League and dominated their group in the EURO Qualifiers, winning 21 points in eight rounds and securing the top spot easily. The popular Red Fury will face off against Colombia and Brazil in the following days in their preparations for the EURO 2024, which will start in less than three months.
Colombia failed to qualify for the previous World Cup, finishing 6th in the South America region, only three points away from the desired 4th place. However, after that unsuccessful campaign, The Tricolour went on an excellent run and didn’t lose in all competitions in the following 17 matches. Also, this World Cup Qualification cycle started much better for Colombia as they won 12 points in six rounds and are now in 3rd place, only behind Argentina and Uruguay.
Spain vs Colombia pick: Spain to win
After winning the UEFA Nations League against Croatia, Spain played great and won six in a row in the EURO 2024 Qualifiers while beating some good teams like Norway and Scotland. Generally, their offense has been tremendous, scoring 22 goals in six rounds – 3.67 per game!
Colombia have been impressive lately, no doubt about that. They had some really good games where they beat teams like Mexico, Brazil, Germany etc… Still, in terms of pure talent and quality, we think Spain has the advantage here.
Throughout history, these teams have met just twice. Spain won once, and once was a draw, but the European team was better on both occasions. Even though both teams are in excellent form, we think Spain are slightly better and should walk away with a victory.
