The curtain on the 2023-24 LaLiga campaign will come down with a brilliant clash at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan as Sevilla host runners-up Barcelona on Sunday night.

Sevilla vs Barcelona Betting Tips: BTTS

Heading into the closing matchday of the LaLiga 2023-24 campaign, Sevilla finds themselves in a not-so-comfortable 13th position with 41 points on the table, four behind Deportivo Alaves in mid-table, clearly indicating that a top-half finish is out of reach, but they will strive to secure the 11th spot, much like last season.

In fact, finishing the top-flight campaign outside the top 10 is certainly a bitter pill for a club of Sevilla's stature, or rather, a five-time winner of the UEFA Europa League, but perhaps they shouldn't feel discouraged, considering they were seriously flirting with the relegation zone at one point.

After displaying an amidable form between late March and early April, a rich run spanning five matches during which they posted four fine triumphs and one draw, Sevilla has hit a sudden readblock since then, opening the final round on the back of three defeats on the spin and without scoring in back-to-back setbacks to Cadiz (0-1) and Athletic Bilbao (0-2).

Nevertheless, the Andalusian outfit will be hoping to at least put an end to their goal drought, having shown a dignified form at their Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan recently, winning four of their past six home fixtures, with two of those successes coming against top-seven duos, edging past Atletico Madrid 1-0 and Real Sociedad in a five-goal thriller.

On the flip side, Barcelona has fallen short in the race for the championship crown this term, as they were left trailing in the dust by the runaway champions Real Madrid with a 12-point deficit, but they can take solace in leapfrogging their Catalan rival Girona on the standings to establish a healthy four-point cushion in the runners-up spot.

Since being sunk by Girona in a devastating 2-4 loss earlier this month, Xavi's crew has produced an impressive response by grinding out three straight triumphs and remaining unscathed at the goal in each of those, with last week's 3-0 thrashing of Rayo Vallecano saw them officially confirm the runner-up finish and Spanish Super Cup berth.

Highly-motivated Barcelona should be able to round off the season in a winning spirit, but Sevilla are unlikely to be easy fish to fry. However, we hope that both sides will be offensively inspired to deliver a real goal-fest night for the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan crowd. The Catalan giants have been very lethal in front of goal, netting 2+ in six straight LaLiga outings, but we also believe that Barca's three-game clean sheets streak ends here, as the Andalusian side has enough firepower in the final third to hurt them. In the end, we expect Xavi's men to emerge victorious in an entertaining contest.

Sevilla team news

The outstanding player Jesus Navas has announced he will hang up his boots at the end of the season, but it seems he won't be able to play his farewell match in front of the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan faithful, as the picked up a hamstring injury in last week's visit to Ath Bilbao.

The 38-year-old fullback will join the medical room alongside the already injured Nemanja Gudelj, Djibril Sow, Oliver Torres, Erik Lamela, and Isaac Romero, while centre-back Kike Salas misses the final day of the LaLiga season due to a one-match suspension.

Barcelona team news

It appears that this will be Xavi's final match in charge of Barcelona, despite an agreement for a contract extension being reached a few weeks ago, with the leading candidate to replace him being Hansi Flick, who previously managed Bayern Munich and the German national team.

Portuguese pair Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix are completing their one-year loans, and it remains to be seen whether the Catalan club's management will attempt to bring them back on a permanent basis.
