Serbia is returning to EURO after 24 years. Interestingly, they have had a few World Cup appearances since then but have had many problems qualifying for EUROs. When Serbia's head coach, Dragan Stojkovic, took the job in 2021, it looked like the Balkan country finally found someone who could lead them to the football stardom. This optimism was buoyed by their impressive performance in the World Cup qualifiers, where they clinched the top spot in their group, even surpassing football giants like Portugal. However, after a poor World Cup appearance, Serbia turned to EURO qualifiers, where they were placed in one of the weakest groups but still had unexpectedly too many problems. Eventually, they finished second on the table and secured a place at EURO.
Serbia's recent results were far from impressive as they won only two of the last six matches. In the previous game, Stojkovic's team won 1-0 on the road in a friendly against Cyprus. Serbia expected that playing versus one of the weakest teams from the EURO qualifiers could help their confidence, but Serbia failed to dominate in that game. Actually, Cyprus had a few solid chances late in the game to snatch a draw.
England have been waiting for a major title since the World Cup in 1966. At the previous EURO, they were close, but eventually, England lost in the final against Italy. Gareth Southgate went through EURO qualifiers almost untested as they finished with a commanding six points more than the second-best in the group, Italy. However, in March, England had two friendly matches, in which they failed to win (1-0 loss against Brazil and 2-2 against Belgium).

In that position we should expect Andrija Zivkovic from PAOK, but his natural position is the right-winger, so Serbia had too many problems on that side in recent games.
