Romania will continue their preparations for EURO 2024 when they welcome Bulgaria to the Steaua multi-purpose stadium in Bucharest on Tuesday evening.

The hosts had an amazing qualification campaign for the European championships tournament that is scheduled for later this month. Edward Iordănescu’s side finished first in their group with 22 points from ten games and didn’t suffer a single defeat. The Tricolours have played two friendlies since then, but failed to win any of them. They played out a goalless draw with Northern Ireland at home before losing 3-2 to Columbia in Madrid, Spain – both games took place in March.

Meanwhile, Bulgaria failed to qualify for the Euros for the fifth consecutive time after finishing at the bottom of their group. The visitors finished the Euro Qualifiers without a single defeat and conceded two or more goals in more than half of their encounters. However, Ilian Iliev’s side will get some encouragement ahead of Tuesday’s game from the fact they didn’t lose any of their last four encounters across all competitions.

While Bulgaria have been hard to beat in recent games, several factors are working against Ilian Iliev’s side - including an injury to Viktor Popov and an unfamiliar environment - and the visitors conceded numerous gilt-edged chances to Azerbaijan in their last friendly encounter.

Given the Lions' propensity to ship goals away from home, a Romania side boasting three wins from their last five games should score more than once and win Tuesday’s game.
