Two sides separated by just one place in the Turkish top flight meet on Thursday evening as Rizespor play host to Trabzonspor.

Rizespor were promoted from the second division at the end of last season, but it seems as if they have been in the top flight for a very long time. İlhan Palut's side are fifth in the table with 32 points from their 21 games so far and If they maintain this position, it would be the first time in their history that they have finished in the top eight of a Süper Lig campaign.

Trabzonspor meanwhile have not quite been the same club since winning the Turkish championship in 2021-22. Abdullah Avcı's side finished sixth last season and are currently third, 14 points off the top. However, the Red & Blues have been slowly hitting form, as they were unbeaten in six matches in all competitions before last weekend's humiliating defeat to Galatasaray.

Rizespor are having the season of their lives, but can improve in defence. İlhan Palut's men have gone just three of their last ten games without conceding a goal and shipped at least two goals in three of their last four outings. Bets on over 2.5 goals were won in five of the last seven games.

Trabzonspor's last two away games have all ended with less than 2.5 goals, but that is not always the case when the Maroon-Blues face Riespor. Each of the last two encounters between these two sides produced five goals and we don't think Thursday will be any different.
