Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid Betting Tips: BTTS / Real Madrid to Win
An on-form Real Madrid return to the Bernabeu this weekend after successfully returning to the summit of La Liga with a 2:0 win at Getafe on Thursday. A double-strike from Joselu lifted Los Merengues back to the top of the division, two points clear of unlikely rivals Girona.
Carlo Ancelotti´s side have been in imperious form this season and they come into this fixture unbeaten in their last 16 league matches. However, it is worth noting that Real have lost twice this season - both defeats came at the hands of Atletico, including a 4:2 defeat in the Copa del Rey in January.
At the Bernabeu, Real have proven a particularly difficult side to beat in the past 12 months. Los Merengues are currently unbeaten in their last 21 home matches since a 3:2 reversal against Villarreal last April. Ancelotti´s side have won 13 of their last 15 La Liga matches on home soil including each of the last five. Most recently, Real recovered from a two-goal deficit to snatch a 3:2 win against Almeria.
Atletico make the short journey to the Bernabeu in good form having won each of their last five matches, including their 4:2 extra-time win against Real in the Copa del Rey. Atletico have struggled on the road though, losing four of their last five away league matches.
While Real are rightly the favourites to win, I'm confidently putting my faith in goals again this weekend. The last three meetings between these sides saw a total of 18 goals scored while each of their last six games also saw BTTS.
Ultimately, I expect Real´s quality to see them over the line in a game where BTTS and at least three goals, can be backed with confidence.
