The hosts of the 2022 World Cup will be looking to maintain their impressive form in qualifying for the next edition of the tournament when they play host to India on Tuesday afternoon.
Qatar finished the World Cup as one of the worst hosts of the tournament in history after not only losing all their three group stage fixtures, but conceding averagely two goals a game and finding the back of the net only once. The Maroons have responded well since then though, reaching the quarter finals of the Gold Cup and winning the Asian Cup. They are also enjoying a great World Cup qualifying campaign, with Qatar sitting at the top of Group A and still unbeaten after five games.
India meanwhile missed out on the last World Cup and have not gotten any better. The visitors did manage to win the SAFF Championship in July last year, but their performances in Group A 2026 World Cup Qualifying have been anything but convincing. The Blue Tigers boast only five points from their five games so far and have scored just two goals.
Betting Tips Qatar vs India: Under 3.5 goals
Qatar started the second round of these qualifiers by beating Afghanistan 8-1, but there have not been able to score many goals since then. All their last four encounters in the competition ended with Under three goals and I expect Tuesday’s game to end similarly.
Scoring goals has been the major problem of India lately. Indeed, Igor Štimac’s side struck only once in their last seven outings in all competitions. There has been some sort of stability in defence lately though, with the team keeping a clean sheet in two of the last three games.
- Best Tip: Under 3.5 goals
- Qatar vs India prediction: 2-0

Qatar team news
Qatar didn’t register any injuries in the goalless draw with Afghanistan last time out, but head coach Tintín Márquez is expected to make a number of changes to his XI.
Abdulla Alyazidi is among those who could be demoted to the bench after the defender was taken off after just 52 minutes and replaced by Mahdi Salem.

India team news
The biggest news for India is that Sunil Chhetri will be missing after playing his last match on the international stage in the goalless draw with Kuwait last week.
Head coach Igor Stimac 23-man squad for Tuesday’s World Cup Qualifier against Qatar features two forwards from Mohun Bagan, Anirudh Thapa and Manvir Singh, while David Lalhlansanga got his first international call up.
