Metta vs Tukums prediction 21.05.2024

On Tuesday afternoon, two very young squads, Metta and Tukums, will face off in the 14th round of Virsliga at Rīgas Hanzas vidusskolas Stadium in Riga.

Metta are playing its 13th consecutive season in the Latvian top-flight division where they were mostly around the relegation zone. Last year, they finished 9th and had to go through relegation playout, but dealt pretty easily with Skanste, beating them 8:2 on aggregate. This year, even though it is still early, they are once again looking like a team that will battle for relegation. They had a terrible start to the season, but after beating the bottom two teams in the last three rounds, Metta is now 7th with 14 points. 

Last year, Tukums barely avoided relegation playout, finishing 8th, just two points above Metta. This year, after the 13th round, Tukums are in 5th place with 17 points. They are averaging around 0.3 points per game more this year than the last one. However, objectively, they are not as good as the current standings represent, and we could easily see another season where they will battle against relegation until the very last round of the season. 

Metta vs Tukums pick: Over 2.5 goals

Lately, Metta have played mostly high-scoring games and were over 2.5 goals in five of the last six games. Even in a game when they were under this line, we saw two goals (1:1) and many goalscoring opportunities. 

Tukums are the league's second-best team (behind RFS) for this type of bet. So far, they were eight times over 2.5 goals in 13 rounds (53%), and on the road, that number is even better - 67%. The primary reason behind their high-scoring games on the road is terrible defensive display, considering they allowed by far the most goals (16). 

Considering all the above, but mainly due to both team's terrible defensive performances, we believe we will see at least three goals, most likely with both teams scoring.
