Premier League champions Manchester City face a stiff test of their title credentials when they face Aston Villa at Etihad Stadium on Wednesday.

With Manchester City in third place with 64 points, just three points behind league leaders Liverpool, and Aston Villa in fourth with 59 points, both teams come into this EPL contest with much to play for.

Pep Guardiola's side were held to a goalless draw against Arsenal on Sunday, extending their unbeaten streak to 14 games. Man City remains unbeaten at home in the Premier League this season, boasting 10 wins and five draws from 15 matches played. Still, a frustrating day at the office leaves the Citizens very much in need of a win on Wednesday.

Aston Villa arrive at the Etihad having secured a 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in their previous league outing on Sunday. The Villians now find themselves three points clear of fifth placed Spurs in an exciting race for Champions League qualification. 

Unbeaten in their last five on the road, Unai Emery´s side have scored at least two goals in seven of their last nine away fixtures. The Villains lost only one of those nine games and will be confident of giving their hosts a tough contest this week.

Recent meetings between these sides also proved competitive with plenty of goals at both ends. Five of their last six meeting saw BTTS. Villa only failed to score in one of their last nine meetings and with City looking to get back to winning form, we should have a competitive and entertaining contest on our hands.
