The second legs of the Spanish third division play-off semi-finals take place this weekend, with Malaga taking on Celta Vigo B among other fixtures.
Malaga have been on a downward spiral since their relegation from La Liga in 2017-18. The hosts were relegated from the Segunda Division last year after finishing in the bottom three and failed to secure automatic promotion from the third division this season. Sergio Pellicer's side did show they are capable of causing an upset to any opponent in the first leg of this weekend’s by coming from behind to draw 2-2, but they cannot afford to concede first this time.
Celta Vigo are playing in this division for the third year in a row. There have been improvements, with the club finishing last season better than the previous and this season in the top four, but that will not be seen as progress if they fail to beat Malaga this weekend to move one step closer to securing a place for the 2024-25 Segunda Division campaign.
Betting Tips Malaga vs Celta Vigo B: Malaga to win or Draw
The second half of the season has seen the hosts rediscover their form. Málaga enter this weekend's game with just one defeat in their last 16 consecutive matches in all competitions. Four of their seven victories in this period came at home, so Pellicer's side are unlikely to lose.
It will not be an easy game though, as Celta Vigo B have been a force to be reckoned with of late. The visitors suffered just one defeat in their last six games and have also been great on the road of late, winning each of their last two away games.

Malaga team news
Haitam Abaida has missed the last 30 games of Malaga due to a cruciate ligament injury and this weekend’s game will come too soon for the right-winger, but he is the hosts’ only injury concern.
Roberto Fernández is the club’s top scorer this season with 16 goals and should lead the line, while Genaro Rodríguez – who has five goals to his name – will be the man to watch in the middle of the park.
