Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund return to domestic action on Saturday as they face their penultimate game of the Bundesliga season at Mainz.

The MEWA ARENA is the host on Sunday for what is usually an entertaining Bundesliga fixture between Mainz and Dortmund. 

Dortmund come into this weekend's contest in buoyant mood after securing their place in the UCL final with a well-deserved 1:0 win at PSG on Tuesday. Edin Terzić´s side now face Real Madrid in the final at Wembley as they look for their second ever UCL title next month.

Domestically, BVB have had a less than stellar season. Dortmund sit fifth in the Bundesliga, outside of the traditional UCL qualification places. However, with Germany awarded a fifth spot next season, Terzić´s side will not miss out on Europe's top table, despite their indifferent campaign. 

Dortmund have an excellent recent away record though which has seen them lose just one of their last 11 away league matches. Four of their last six away games saw BTTS including a 4:1 defeat at RB Leipzig last weekend. 

Hosts Mainz have enjoyed a resurgence in 2024 but still need one more point to be assured of their safety. Five points above Koln with two games to play, the hosts know a point or more will all but secure their Bundesliga future for another season.

Unbeaten in their last seven league matches since an 8:1 trouncing at Bayern Munich, Bo Henriksen´s side have collected three wins and four draws during their unvanquished sequence.

At the MEWA ARENA, Mainz are unbeaten in their last seven home fixtures with victory achieved in three of their last four. Given that form, we can expect the hosts to test a potentially fatigued Dortmund´s resolve.

Eleven of the last 15 encounters between these sides saw BTTS, including six of their last seven contests and I expect a similar result on Saturday. 

Considering recent form and past meetings, BTTS looks a good shout, while I also fancy the hosts to extend their unbeaten run at the MEWA ARENA.
