Two Premier League teams whose end to the season isn't going the way they would have liked will meet at Anfield this weekend as Liverpool host Tottenham Hotspur.

Before the trip to Old Trafford at the beginning of last month, Liverpool had the English top flight title in their hands, but that’s no longer the case. Draws with Man United, West Ham and defeats to Crystal Palace and Everton over the course of the last month or so has seen the Reds drop to third place in the standings. Looking to return to winning ways, while hoping City and Arsenal can experience a crisis, Jürgen Klopp’s side will be motivated by the fact that they boast the best home record in this division this season.

Tottenham meanwhile are fighting for European football after spending a couple of matchdays at the top of the standings earlier in the season. The Lilly Whites currently sit in fifth place, but with six points separating them from Villa, a top four finish is no longer within reach. Still, Ange Postecoglou will be hoping his men don’t lose a fourth consecutive game when they take on Liverpool at Anfield this weekend.

Betting Tips Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur: Both teams to score

Liverpool’s defence has been all over the place in recent months. The Reds are without a clean sheet in their last eight Premier League games, and that’s surprising for a team with Virgil van Dijk. Bets on btts - yes were won in six of those matches.

Tottenham can’t also boast a good defence, with the Lilly Whites having only one clean sheet from their last seventeen league matches. Bets on btts - yes were won in 13 of those encounters.

Another reason to expect goals here is the fact that recent meetings between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur were very entertaining. Six of the last seven produced at least three goals and I don’t think this weekend’s game will be different.

Liverpool team news

Liverpool didn’t register any injuries in the draw with West Ham United last weekend, but head coach Jürgen Klopp is expected to make changes to his starting eleven.

After featuring as substitutes in that game, Dominik Szoboszlai, Darwin Núñez and Mohamed Salah will be among those expected to get promotion into the XI.

On the injury front, the Reds will be without the services of Conor Bradley (ankle), Thiago (muscle), Ben Doak (menisus) and Joel Matip (cruciate ligament).

Tottenham Hotspur team news

Timo Werner and Ben Davies missed the defeat to Chelsea last time out due to thigh and calf injuries respectively and the trip to Anfield will come too soon for them.

Tottenham Hotspur’s list of absentees also includes Manor Solomon (meniscus), Ryan Sessegnon (hamstring), Fraser Forster (ankle), and Destiny Udogie (hamstring).

Dejan Kulusevski started in the number 10 position against Chelsea last time out, but the Swedish professional could return to the wing this weekend, while Pierre-Emile Højbjerg will hope to displace either Sarr or Bissouma in midfield.
