  • Competition: Friendly International
  • Date: Sunday, 9th June, 2024
  • Kickoff: 19:45 UTC +1 / 20:45 CEST
  • Venue: Stadio Carlo Castellani (Empoli)

In their last preparation game for the upcoming EURO, Italy will face off against Bosnia and Herzegovina at Stadio Carlo Castellani in Empoli.

Italy, the reigning EURO Champions, had a major collapse as they failed to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar after North Macedonia eliminated them in the Playoffs. Still, after an unsuccessful WC Qualifier, Italy bounced back with a good UEFA Nations League run and then the EURO Qualifiers as well. Even though they don't have the stars they used to have (especially upfront), Italy are still among the best teams in Europe.

Bosnia and Herzegovina have never appeared in the EURO in their history, at least as a sovereign state. After they won the UEFA Nations League B, they had high hopes for the EURO Qualifiers. However, they had an atrocious cycle, finishing 5th in a group with Portugal, Slovakia, Luxembourg, Iceland, and Liechtenstein. Still, since they won their Nations League Group, they had an extra chance to qualify for EURO, but Ukraine easily eliminated them in the Semi-Finals.

Italy vs Bosnia and Herzegovina pick: Italy to win and cover the -1.5 AH spread

Italy lost just once in the last ten games in all competitions. That was against England (3:1) away from home in a match where Italy deserved at least a draw. At home, Italy won five of the last six matches against much better teams than Bosnia and Herzegovina and three of those five wins were by two or more goals difference.

Bosnia and Herzegovina are in terrible form, losing five in a row while allowing an incredible 16 goals - 3.2 per game. Like most Balkan teams, Bosnia and Herzegovina are playing a lot better at home. Away from home, they only won against poor Liechtenstein in the last 11.

In the last h2h game, Italy won 2:0. Additionally, Italy won three of four h2h games these teams played.

Considering the previous h2h games and a massive difference in form, we expect Italy to dominate and win this game by at least two goals difference.
