Heerenveen vs Twente prediction 03.04.2024

Heerenveen have mostly been a mid-table in the last decade, and they are on pace for another mid-table finish. Right now, they are 11th with 32 points, but with a good final push, the popular Super Firsians could reach the Conference League Playoffs as they are only four points away. However, even if they somehow end up in the ECL Playoffs, they will have a really tough job as they could potentially face off against the 36-time league winner, Ajax. In our opinion, Heerenveen are not as good as the teams currently occupying the ECL Playoffs. The main reason for such a statement is their road record. However, at home, they proved they could hold their own even against the best teams in the country.

Twente overcame the financial problems they encountered a few seasons ago. In the last two seasons, they finished 4th and 5th and are on pace for another good finish. At this moment, they are 3rd with 56 points, four points more than the 4th-placed AZ Alkmaar. If they manage to hold on to that 3rd place, The Tukkers will get the opportunity to play in the Champions League Qualifiers for the first time since 2011/12 when Benfica eliminated them in the Playoff Round. 

Heerenveen vs Twente pick: Both teams to score

Heerenveen played very well at home this season, winning most of their points in the Eredivisie at Abe Lenstra Stadion. So far, they have won 63% of their total points at home with 1.85 goals per game. Recently, they have been pretty efficient at home, scoring two goals per game in four of the previous five matches. If we take a look at the teams they faced (Feyenoord, Ajax, AZ), those good offensive performances look even more impressive. So, we strongly believe they can score at home against anyone in the league. 

Twente are in excellent form, having won four of the last five matches and six of the last eight. They have also been really good offensively throughout the season, scoring 50 goals in 27 rounds - 1.85 per game. On the other hand, we do not trust them to keep a clean sheet against a good home team. So far, Twente have kept its net intact in only 31% of its road games (four of 13). 

In the previous three h2h games at Abe Lenstra Stadion in Heerenveen, we saw both teams scoring on all three occasions. Considering the previous h2h games and all the above, we expect an exciting game with both teams scoring.
