Two sides two places and five points apart in the Irish top flight go head to head on Thursday evening as Galway United play host to Bohemians.
The hosts had a campaign to remember in the second division last season. John Caulfield’s side won the second division with a record 94 points to return to the top flight for the first time in about seven years. The Tribesmen were expected to have issues in the Premier Division, but very little signs of that have been seen until now. They currently sit in the top five and have been difficult to beat at the Eamonn Deacy Park.
Bohemians meanwhile have not been themselves since 2020 when they finished second in this division. The visitors finished sixth last season and there have been very little signs of improvements this season. Alan Reynolds’ men are separated from the relegation by just six points and will enter this game with a run of four consecutive games without a win.
Betting Tips Galway United vs Bohemians: Under 2.5 goals
Galway United shipped two goals in their last defeat against Shelbourne in Drumcondra, but John Caulfield’s men are known for being very solid defensively at home. Indeed, they didn’t concede a single goal in any of their last five games on home soil. Two of those games ended in goalless draws.
Recent meetings between Galway United and Bohemians in the League of Ireland Premier Division weren’t also entertaining. Each of the last three ended with two goals or fewer and I fancy Thursday’s game to have a similar ending.
- Best Tip: Under 2.5 goals
- Galway United vs Bohemian prediction: 1-0

Galway United team news
Aodh Dervin will be unavailable this way for Galway United head coach John Caulfield due to a suspension.
Dervin is expected to serve a one match ban after he got sent off for two bookings in the defeat to Shelbourne last time out.
Having been taken off at the start of the second half in that game, the likes Robert Slevin, David Hurley and Edward McCarthy are among those who could drop to the bench this week.
