  • Competition: Friendlies
  • Date: 9th June 2024

  • Venue: Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux

France will be looking to record a third straight win in friendly encounters when they welcome Canada to Bordeaux on Sunday night.

The 2022 World Cup finalists France have made themselves a force to be reckoned with in recent months. Les Bleus enter this weekend's game with only two defeats in their last thirteen matches in all competitions - both losses came against Germany. Didier Deschamps' side got off to a good start to the June international break by beating Luxembourg 3-0 and will be looking for a similar display this weekend before the European Championship, for which they qualified in style, begins.

Canada meanwhile are preparing for the Copa América, which begins in just under two weeks' time. The Reds have not had the best of luck in recent friendlies. They were on the wrong end of four goals in their last game against the Netherlands and also leaked four goals in their previous friendly against Japan.

France vs Canada Betting Tips: Over 2.5 goals

Les Blues are capable of destroying any opponent on a good game. France scored exactly three goals in each of their last three encounters and over the course of their last eleven games we saw Deschamps' men hit the back of the net an average of three times. Seven of those fixtures ended with over 2.5 goals.

Defending has been one of the major downfalls of Canada in recent encounters. The Canadians kept a clean sheet only once in their last seven outings and shipped at least two goals in five of those fixtures. Just one of those matches produced less than three goals.

  • Best Tip: Over 2.5 goals
  • France vs Canada prediction: 2-1

France team news

Ngolo Kante started for France against Luxembourg last time out for the first time in over two years.

The Al-Ittihad midfielder played over 60 minutes, but is likely to make way for the either Champions League winner Eduardo Camavinga or Warren Zaïre-Emery with Didier Deschamps set to make alterations to his XI.

Bradley Barcola is also pushing for a start after making his first appearance for Les Blues as a substitute last time out.

Canada team news

Former Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch is expected to make wholesales changes to the side that started the humiliating 4-0 defeat to the Netherlands last time out.

Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies played 90 minutes in that game and the likes of Stephen Eustáquio and Ismaël Koné are among those expected to drop to the substitutes’ bench.
