NEC Nijmegen will be looking to continue their impressive form this season this week when they face relegation favorites Volendam.

Volendam avoided relegation last season upon returning to the Eredivisie for the first time in 14 years, but are unlikely to escape the drop this time around. Regillio Simons' side find themselves bottom of the table with just 13 points from 23 games and are winless in seven matches. However, the hosts will take heart from the fact that two of their only three league wins this season came at Kras Stadion.

NEC meanwhile are having a memorable season in Holland's elite division. The visitors occupy seventh place and, should they hold on to that, it would be their best finish in the league since 1976. Rogier Meijer's side continued their excellent form in midweek when they beat Cambuur to reach the final of the KNVB Cup for the fifth time in their history and are tipped to walk away with three points on Friday.

Volendam's biggest weakness this season has been their defence. Regillio Simons' side have conceded more goals this season than any other team in this division and go into this weekend's game with a run of seven consecutive games without a clean sheet. At least four goals were scored in three of their last four encounters.

Compared to the hosts, NEC have a better defence, but Rogier Meijer's side have been conceding plenty of goals on the road lately. The visitors conceded exactly two goals in each of their last four away Eredivisie games, and only one of those ties ended with under 2.5 goals.
