FC Copenhagen vs Molde prediction 08.02.2024

On Thursday evening, Denmark's most prestigious club, FC Copenhagen, will face off against Norway's Cup winner, Molde, in a friendly match at Atlantic Cup at Estádio Algarve in Portugal. 

Last season, FC Copenhagen won both the Cup and the league title, but this season, they will not be able to repeat that, as Silkeborg already knocked them out of the Cup in the Quarterfinals. Also, with back-to-back losses in the league, they dropped to 3rd place and are now three points away from the top spot. So, this winter break came at the right moment for the popular Lions. On the other hand, FC Copenhagen did great in the Champions League, securing the 1/8 Finals, where they will face last season's winner, Manchester City.

For Molde, the domestic season is already over, and they managed to save it by winning the Cup and securing Europe that way since they failed to do so via league finish. They finished 5th, 19 points away from the top spot! Still, they did fine in Europe, finishing 3rd in Europa League group H and qualifying for the Europa Conference League 1/16 Finals, where they will face Legia. 

FC Copenhagen vs Molde pick: Over 2.5 goals

FC Copenhagen mostly played high-scoring games this season, especially in the domestic competitions. In the Superliga, 70% of their games finished with three or more goals. Also, in the Atlantic Cup, they have played two games and have won one and lost one. But more importantly for our bet, they were both times over 2.5 goals with an incredible six goals per game!

Since the season finished, Molde played two friendly games (one in the Atlantic Cup), winning them both with five scored goals. Also, they were over 2.5 goals in both of those games.

We can see a clear pattern from these teams in recent friendly games. They are constantly playing high-scoring games with both teams scoring, and we would be surprised if we would see a different scenario in this match. We believe that over 2.5 goals is the safest option for this Atlantic Cup game.
