Farul Constanta vs Universitatea Craiova prediction 13.05.2024

There are only two rounds left in the Romanian Liga 1 (Championship Group), and even though FCSB won the title, there is still the question of who will take second and third place, which leads to Europe. Two teams trying to secure European appearances are Farul Constanta and Universitatea Craiova, which will face off at Central Stadium Hagi Academy in Ovidiu.

Farul Constanta had a great last season, winning the league title. However, this year, they were not even remotely successful and barely secured the Championship Group. They finished the first part of the season in 6th place, with only one point from the relegation group. Right now, they are 4th in the Championship Group, five points away from the 2nd and 3rd place. To secure Europe, they need two wins and losses from Cluj and Universitatea Craiova (in both rounds).

Universitatea Craiova became one of the better teams in Romania. However, they failed to secure Europe last year, finishing just two points away from it. This year, they were solid throughout the season and are now holding the 2nd spot, but with the same number of points as the 3rd-placed Cluj. They did have some problems late in the season, but after changing the coach on April 17th, they started playing much better, which might have saved their season. With only one point from this game, they would mathematically secure at least the Europa Conference League. 

Farul Constanta vs Universitatea Craiova pick: Universitatea Craiova to (AH 0) win

Farul Constanta pretty much ruined their chances of securing Europe with back-to-back losses vs FCSB and Sepsi Sf. Gheorghe in the last rounds. Their defense totally collapsed in recent two matches, allowing six goals and their morale will surely be shaken. 

On the other hand, Universitatea Craiova is in superb momentum after winning two in a row in an impressive fashion. They even won 2:0 vs the best team in the league, FCSB, in the last round. Additionally, since they changed the coach, they won three of four matches. Even in a match where they lost (1:0 vs Cluj), they were competitive and probably deserved a point. 

These teams are in totally opposite momentums, and considering Universitatea Craiova played one of the best games of the season in the last round vs FCSB, we expect them to continue with positive results and secure European Qualifiers.
