Eintracht Frankfurt vs Union Saint-Gilloise prediction 22.02.2024

After a thrilling 2:2 in Belgium in the first leg, we are headed to Germany for the second leg game of the Europa Conference League between Eintracht Frankfurt and Union Saint-Gilloise at Deutsche Bank Park.

Eintracht Frankfurt were mostly in the upper half of the Bundesliga table in the last few years, securing Europe in three of the last five seasons and even winning the Europa League title in the 2021/22 season. This year, the Eagles are once again around the European spots and are currently 6th with 33 points in 22 rounds in the domestic league. This game in the ECL is coming at a difficult moment for the Eagles, considering they haven't won in the last four games, and we cannot say they had a schedule that was too challenging. 

With the arrival of the new owner, Tony Bloom, Union Saint-Gilloise quickly became one of the better teams in Belgium. Last season, they were in a superb position to win the title, but with a loss in the last round vs Clube Brugge, they missed it only by one point. This year, they are looking like Belgium's best team, currently in 1st place with 62 points, eight points above the second-placed Anderlecht. 

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Union Saint-Gilloise pick: Over 2.5 goals

In the ECL (group phase & knockout phase), Eintracht Frankfurt were over 2.5 goals in five of seven matches - 71.4%. At home, the Eagles scored at least one goal in 13 of 14 games in all competitions, and it is completely reasonable to expect them to score at least once vs Union Saint-Gilloise as well. On the other hand, with five conceded goals in the last two games, we do not trust their defense by any means.

Union Saint-Gilloise played primarily high-scoring games this season. Lately, they almost exclusively played high-scoring games and were over 2.5 goals in seven of the last eight matches - 87.5%. 

In the first leg, in Belgium, we saw an exciting 2:2 draw. Considering the first leg and all the above, we expect another high-scoring game, most likely with both teams scoring.
