An intriguing contest can be expected on Thursday with a place in Serie A up for grabs for the winner of this two-legged tie. Both teams have enjoyed some excellent form in recent weeks, and we can expect a particularly competitive contest.

Cremonese come into Thursday's contest unbeaten in five matches after they secured a 6:3 aggregate victory against Catanzaro in the playoff semi-finals. 

The hosts finished their Serie B campaign in fourth spot with 67 points, three points behind third-placed Venezia. 

At the Stadio Giovanni Zini, Giovanni Stroppa´s side have enjoyed a particularly strong run of results in recent months. Cremonese claimed victories in ten of their last 14 home fixtures with only two defeats suffered during that run. 

Usually an entertaining side to watch, the hosts saw over 2.5 goals scored in six of their last seven home fixtures. Stroppa´s men scored at least twice in five of those games. 

Visiting Venezia also enjoyed a strong run of form in recent weeks. The away side claimed victories in six of their last eight fixtures, including two wins against Palermo to secure their place in the playoff final. 

Away from home, Paulo Vanoli´s side have been up-and-down in form. I Leoni Alati won seven but lost six of their last 15 road trips. 

On the road, Venezia have also seen plenty of high-scoring fixtures. Vanoli´s side saw over 2.5 goals scored in 10 of their last 12 away Serie B contests since a 1:0 defeat at this venue in December.

A tough one to call with both teams performing well, I expect Venezia to claim a first-leg advantage in a game where we can expect at least three goals scored.
