Chelsea vs West Ham prediction 05.05.2024

Chelsea continued to struggle this year. After finishing 12th last year and spending a ton of money, the Blues are only slightly better. Throughout the season, they were mostly in the middle of the league's table, but they still have the opportunity to at least secure Europe. Right now, they are 8th with 51 points, two away from 7th-placed Newcastle and three away from the 6th-placed Manchester United. So, the Blues definitely have a chance of securing Europe, but that will not be an easy task, considering their squad is filled with injuries. 

West Ham also had a terrible last season, finishing 14th, but saved it with the European Conference League title. This year, they once again had an excellent European run, reaching the Europa League Quarter Finals, where Bayer Leverkusen eliminated them. This year, similarly to Chelsea, the Hammers are slightly better in the Premide League and were around the middle of the table for most of the season. Right now, they are in 9th place, just two points away from Chelsea, but with a game played more. 

Chelsea vs West Ham pick: Chelsea to win

Chelsea are coming off an excellent 2:0 home win against Tottenham. At Stamford Bridge, the Blues are playing absolutely great, winning six of the last seven matches. The only match they failed to win was against Burnley (2:2), but they deserved more from that game. So, we could easily speak about a seven-game winning streak. 

On the other hand, West Ham are in terrible form, having won just once in the last nine games in all competitions. Defensively, they truly collapsed, allowing 12 goals - 2.4 per game. Additionally, away from home, the Hammers really struggled recently, losing four of the last five. 

In the previous three h2h games at Stamford Bridge, the Blues won every time with a combined goal difference of 6:1. 

Considering the difference in form, the home-pitch advantage, and all the above, we believe the Blues should secure a comfortable home win and move closer to securing Europe next season.
