Brest vs Nantes prediction 04.05.2024

Brest are quietly having an incredible season - the best one in their history. The Pirates arrived in the French top-flight division in the 2019/20 season and were in the lower part of the league's table. Still, this year, they are unexpectedly contending for the top three/four spots and the Champions League appearance next season. Right now, they are 3rd with 56 points from 31 matches - two away from the 2nd-placed Monaco, but also just one away from the 4th-placed Lille. In the remaining three games, they have a pretty easy schedule vs Nantes, Reims, and Toulouse, and we wouldn't be surprised if they would take that 2nd place. 

On the other hand, Nantes are playing another disappointing season. Last year, they barely secured survival, finishing just one point above the danger zone. They even had to sack coach Antoine Kombouaré to achieve that. Now, after another terrible season, they appointed Kombouaré again, a truly strange move considering most of the football experts blamed the poor last season on Kombouaré. Currently, they are 14th with 32 points, six points away from direct relegation but just three away from the relegation playout. The remaining three games will be really tough for Nantes, considering they will face off against Brest, Monaco, and Lile! So, we wouldn't be surprised if they would lose all three remaining games. 

Brest vs Nantes pick: Brest to win

Brest have been good throughout the season, winning 16 games in 31 matches. Lately, they have won three of the last five, but the two they lost were against excellent teams (Lyon and Monaco). And to be fair, they definitely deserved more from those two matches. However, against the bottom five teams, Brest are absolutely great, winning eight of nine matches! Additionally, at home, Brest has only lost once in the last eleven matches!

On the other hand, Nantes lost five of the last eight matches! Even though they had some success after changing the coach, we do not believe them against the top three or four teams. 

In the first game, at Stade de la Beaujoire in Nantes, Brest easily won 2:0. Now, at home, considering all the above, we believe Brest should secure a comfortable win.
