Bologna will be looking to keep their hopes of a top five finish alive when they host Lecce on Sunday afternoon at Stadio Olimpico.

The hosts had a memorable 2022-23 campaign, finishing in the top half of the table but not many expected them to maintain that form this season. Thiago Motta's side currently sit in sixth place, two points away from the European places and have lost just two of their last twelve matches in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Lecce narrowly avoided relegation on their return to the Italian top flight last season and are currently in a similar position. The visitors are separated from the relegation zone by just six points, but they will go into this weekend's game full of confidence after beating Fiorentina 3-2 last time out.

Bologna vs Lecce Betting Tips: Home team to win

Since losing to AC Milan in their first league home game of the season, Bologna have been almost unstoppable at Renato Dall'Ara. I Rossoblù are unbeaten in their last ten league home games, winning eight and drawing two. Some of those victories came against the likes of Lazio, Roma and Atalanta, so beating Lecce this weekend shouldn't pose much of a challenge.

Lecce picked up an impressive win against Fiorentina last time out, but the Yellow and Reds have been very weak away from home so far this season. Roberto D'Aversa's men have not won any of their ten Serie A games on the road and were on the losing end in each of the last four. Lecce do not also have a good record against the hosts.

  • Best Tip: Home win
  • Bologna vs Lecce prediction: 2-0

Bologna team news

Adama Soumaoro has been sidelined since May 2023 with a tendon injury and Sunday's game will come too soon for the centre-back.

The defender is joined on the hosts’ list of absentees by Michel Aebischer who is suspended for accumulation of bookings.

Remo Freuler and Alexis Saelemaekers are each just one yellow card away from a one-match ban, but Bologna head coach Thiago Motta has no other pressing issues.

Lecce

Lecce team news

Valentin Gendrey will not be available to Lecce head coach Roberto D'Aversa this weekend due to suspension.

The Frenchman picked up his fifth yellow card of the 2023-24 campaign in the win over Fiorentina last time out and will serve his one-match ban on Sunday.

Kastriot Dermaku has not yet recovered from the cruciate ligament injury that has kept him out of action since December last year, but the defender is the visitors' only injury concern.
