A place in the finals of the Portuguese League Cup will be at stake when Benfica and Estoril face each other on Wednesday night.

Benfica may be second in the Primeira Liga standings, but they have been in impressive form of late. Roger Schmidt's side enter Wednesday's game riding on a run of eight consecutive wins, scoring at least three goals in five of those matches and conceding just five goals in the process. The Eagles are the most successful side in Taca da Liga, but their last title came in 2016. They finished runners-up in 2022 and will be aiming to go for the title this time around.

Estoril have not given their fans much to cheer about this season. The Canaries are just two points above the relegation zone in the Portuguese top flight and enter this game with four defeats from their last four outings. Considering that Vasco Seabra's side don't also have a great record against Benfica, having lost each of the last five meetings, another defeat is likely to be on the cards on Wednesday.
