Almeria´s disastrous season shows little sign of improvement. The La Liga basement dwellers come into Monday´s league match with a paltry six points to show from 23 league games played this season.

Remarkably, Almeria have now failed to win any of their last 26 league matches since May 2023 while they have lost each of their last three league outings. Gaizka Garitano´s side have at least managed to draw three of their last four matches, including a goalless draw against title contenders Girona. However, they suffered a 3:0 reversal in their most recent home game against Alaves.

Bilbao arrive at the Power Horse Stadium in good form after claiming a surprise 1:0 Copa Del Rey win at Atletico Madrid on Wednesday. The Basque side have now won three of their last four matches including a superb 4:2 win against Barcelona, also in the Copa Del Rey.

Now just three points outside of the Champions League qualification places, Bilbao have lost just one of their last six away matches in La Liga (W2, D3, L1) and they will surely see this fixture as one they should be winning.

Bilbao do have an excellent recent record in this fixture. Ernesto Valverde´s side have won ten and drawn one of their last 11 meetings since 2009. Los Leones also edged to a 2:1 win on their last visit to this venue in April last year.

A likely tight contest, I expect Bilbao to have enough quality to claim a vital away victory against an Almeria side that cannot buy a win this season.
