Aarhus vs Silkeborg prediction 15.05.2024.

In the 30th round of the Denmark Superliga, the two weakest teams from the Championship group, Aarhus and Silkeborg, will face off at Ceres Park in Aarhus in a match with very little to gain for either team.

Aarhus finished 3rd in the last season, securing Europe Qualifiers. However, this year, they cannot secure it via league finish and their best chance was to do it through the Cup. They reached the finals and played against their next league opponent, Silkeborg, but blew the opportunity, losing 1:0. Now, in the remaining three games of the season, they are without a motive and have nothing to gain from them because finishing fifth or sixth is pretty much the same. 

Silkeborg found itself in a similar situation this season as Aarhus. In fact, they are in an even slightly worse situation than Aarhus in the league, as they are the worst-placed team in the Championship Group with a six-point deficit to 5th-placed Aarhus. However, a big difference is that one game in the Cup Finals which truly saved their season. By winning the Cup, Silkeborg won only their third major trophy in the 107-year-old history.

Aarhus vs Silkeborg pick: Both teams to score

Aarhus are in terrible form, losing five in a row. However, regardless of the results, they are scoring pretty regularly and have scored in four of those five matches. At home, we believe they can score against anyone, considering they scored at least once in ten of the last 11 games in all competitions. 

On the other hand, Silkeborg scored at least a goal in three of the last four matches. They only failed to score against FC Copenhagen (3:0 loss), but they had chances and should have scored 1.07 goals, according to xG statistics.

Neither team has been impressive defensively, and we do not think we should see a clean sheet. Aarhus failed to keep their net intact in the last six while allowing 18 goals—three per game. On the other hand, Silkeborg have not kept a clean sheet on the road since the winter break, allowing 18 goals (three per game). 

In the previous game, Silkeborg won 1:0 in the Cup Final. Now, we expect a different game, more like the one they played in the league on April 1st when we saw a 2:2 draw. A big reason for this is that neither team has a motive and has shown very little defensively in recent matches.
